Anyone who owns or owned a No. 1 Lyman. Would appreciate hearing your experience .......

How satisfied with the scope they shipped with them? Adjustment range, durabilty, how, if you replaced it, did that project go ok?

Any Tang rear/globe front added? Whose, how did it go?

What distance did you find it would hit with original/replacement scope......

Mine is an unmarked overrun example, and came with a scope not serialnumbered to the rifle.
I sold it to a friend a while back. It is a usable scope, but really only for nostalgia buffs, with its small obective and 4X power. The adjustments should be OK, like any other target type scope, but they are rudimentary; nothing like a Unertl or Lyman Super Targetspot.

My rifle came to me drilled and tapped for a modern scope, in addition to the original set up by Ruger. It uses two rear 1V bases for that purpose and works fine.
I also can attach a Parker Hale target aperture sight and globe front sight using the Ruger target bases supplied with the rifle.
Tang sights are a problem on a No. 1, but can be done.

Hi I own two of them with factory Remington 405 gr loads when adjusted all the way up it still shoots 6 inches low at 100 yds I loaded up some 350 gr loads and it still shoots low there just is not enough elevation adjustment in that set up but its still cool :) :)
