NM Super BH Hammers - Narrow spur?

I was told today that Ruger made 2 versions of NM Super BH Hammer - The lower, "wide-spur" version, and a "narrow-spur" version.

It was my understanding that all NM Supers came with the wide-spur hammer.

Which is it?

Are you thinking of the Montado hammer? It's similar to the SBH, but a tad thinner in spots.

I wasn't thinking of anything in particular. If true, it's news to me that Super Blackhawks had any hammer profile other than "low, wide-spur".

I THINK I was told this because I was on the verge of buying what was being sold as a NM Super hammer, and the person on the other end of the line said, "Oh, by the way, this is the narrow spur hammer". To me, that means "regular BH hammer".

Ya, narrow spur to me means the standard Blackhawk. All Supers get the wide, lower spur. Unless it's a Anniversary Flattop, but those aren't Supers.

The one on the far left (Blackhawk) is the only one I would think of as "narrow spur".

I'm guessing the hammer got labeled "Super BH" in their parts bin (used) but actually came from a BH.

I have seen SBH Hammers get narrowed to a standard hammer width.

Some like the lower just not the wider.

A fairly easy mod.

Yeah, I can understand that, too. The profile is nice, but I really like the feel of that broad spur under my thumb.

Yes, it is indeed different. It will have "steps" cut into the hammer's face, similar to those on the New Model hammers. However, there will NOT be any provision for the hammer plunger and spring since the conversion kit utilizes a "Colt like" cylinder latch (bolt in Colt nomenclature) spring.

Oh - most interesting. I wonder if I encountered an OM conversion hammer.

There was a picture provided, but too small to tell whether there was a plunger or not.

Don't forget that many, many people refer to **ALL** Blackhawks as 'Super Blackhawks.' That may be the case here.

Very possible. The ad was placed by a company that specializes in gun parts sales, but that may not mean anything.
