Just got my Wolff springs today and installed them in my Single Six. Got the 30-17 shooters pak. The hammer spring was a fun install - two person job - extra hands help, although I hear an old fork works well. No disassembly required, just had to take the grips off. I think it will make it much more enjoyable to shoot. Lighter trigger pull, plus easier cocking. Will range test this week.

I did a 'poor mans trigger job', per Jeff Quinn, and it produces a very light trigger. Haven't tested the actual spring weight but it is much better than the factory pull.

I slick up the innards and install 17lb Wolff hammer springs in all my Rugers. Works well and if the action is slick, you don't need heavy springs.

A bench vise makes swapping them much, much easier. I just grap the stirrup with a pair of pliers and push down on it. Any will work but channel-locks or vise grips work best.

I'm just the opposite of CraigC. Well, with Big Bores, anyway. I slick up my lockwork as good as I can then install 25# mainsprings. I want my hammer to fall NOW and hit the primer hard.

Fox Mike - I didn't like the idea of having only one leg of the trigger spring hanging off ala poor boy trigger job - thats why I got the lighter trigger spring. It only takes a minute longer to swap out the trigger spring, the pin almost fell out.

Seems to not be a problem so far. I do know that bending the spring, per Jerry Kuhnhausen's book, also works well.

Follow up post, got out to the range today and ran ~100 rounds through the SS with zero problems. Trigger feels great and hammer is easier on the thumb. Shot the group below at 25ft.

Actually I did run into one problem after testing the SS I was shooting my 1966 vintage 10/22 and was having a very hard time hitting anything - a 5.8 magnitude quake makes it hard to aim! The whole covered range was swaying and it sounded like a bear was running across the roof.

center ring is 1 inch, not bad for me, my poor eyesight and an open sighted 4-5/8.
