NFL legend and actor Jim Brown dead at age 87

I was just a kid when he was playing but damn, never saw a runner stiff arm so many big guys clean out of his way like they were little kids. He was a flying tank with a plow out front.

On the NBC Evening News they described Jim Brown as possibly the greatest running back of all time (a not unreasonable acolade) and as someone that no one in the NFL could stop. But I well remember that there was one linebacker who had Brown's number and often was his nemesis: Sam Huff of the NY Giants. Huff is not among those revered as "one of the greatest of all time" but he did have the ability to often stop Jim Brown. That Brown was a great player, however, is never in dispute. RIP.

RIP. He truly looked liked like a giant who played football against little boys.

Jim Brown got his records playing 12 and 14 game seasons, not 16 or 17 like today.

He STILL holds the records for averaging over 100 yards per game.

Seems like I heard a report on the radio a few years back that he was a Republican and believed the way for blacks to get equality was through working and investing and becoming a supporting and vital part of the local economy. Not by protesting and marching.
