My youngest son, who is adopted, is biracial and appears to the world as a Black man. He is married to a White woman and they have three boys, all of whom are at least partially Black. So I am very sympathetic to the concept of mixed racial marriages and related issues. But I still feel resentment at the endless display of "alternative" lifestyles in commercials and in entertainment where one rarely sees an all White, heterosexual couple or family. And in ads or shows where two straight men are shown, the dumb one is always the White guy. If a male/female couple is shown, the idiot in the relationship is always the man. And of course if two of the same sex are involved, the straight one is always the dummy, never the gay one. The only time, it seems, that a Black person can be the butt of the joke is if the story involves all Black people. Same for gays. I consider myself tolerant and open to everyone, but resent the way the non traditional roles are pushed upon us endlessly in the media.
