New Toy

Years ago I had a Browning Hi-Power and like a fool traded it away. Lately I have been looking for a replacement and I found one at a good price. There is a company on GunBroker selling under the name cdisales, they sell police and military surplus. They had a bunch of Hi-Power's that came from the Israeli Police. They grade them and price them according to condition, the one I bought was $459, this was the most expensive of the one's listed, except some that were older and available for C & R.
They are reparkerized, mine looked new when it came out of the box. Mine had a few small dings that they finished over, but for the price it is better than I expected. The grips are rough but I plan on replacing them anyway. These guns originally came with a lanyard ring, some have them but most have been removed. The ring on my pistol was removed, I would have removed it anyway. Here are the mandatory pictures-

That thing looks great! I have a cousin that may be interested in a Hi-Power. I'll have to let him know about that seller, as that sounds like a fantastic deal.

That's a nice looking pistol. I had a new HP that I bought in 1990 that looked about the same. The trigger pull was less than optimal, mostly due to how the magazine safety affected it. Overall it was a very tight, nicely finished pistol - was assembled in Portugal.

You can't tell from the second pic, but you can with the gun in your hand, where the top of the trigger guard meets the frame there are 2 marks side by side. One is a proof mark and the other is the Star Of David, with what looks like an n inside the star.
I have read that what looks like an n is actually the first letter in the Hebrew spelling of police. Here is the Hebrew word for police- משטרת , Hebrew is written from right to left.

Yes the trigger pull is heavy, but I eased it quite a bit today by removing the mag safety, took about 15 minutes. Another thing is the main spring is stout, as a matter of fact I don't have another firearm that has a spring this strong. When they pull the trigger in Israel the want to make sure it goes bang.
