You learned about interference engines the hard way. I changed the belt in my 93 Civic at about 96k. I believe the 1.8,which is the current engine and came out in 2006,has a chain.

Actually I was lucky, Graygun--my personal experience was with a non-interference engine. Inconvenience, yes, destroyed engine, no. Others I've known didn't share my good luck. Glad to hear Honda's going to chains, too!

The Forrester and rav were our short list a couple of months ago. Back to back test drives tanked the subie for us, especially the Mrs. I was willing to give the CVT a try but not her. We don't need the off-road ability in our car and truly liked the seats in the rav better. I really wanted to feel the subie love but the toy was a better fit. Oh well.

Good car, you should enjoy it for a long time.

Ditto the Toyota. My lil' Corolla was the most trouble-free car I have ever owned. Equaled, perhaps, by my '83 SR5 pickup.
