Recently got my 1911 and planning a range day soon. Fairly new to hand guns have about 1000rds through my sr9c but have never owned or shot a 1911 and came across this one at my LGS while looking for something to spend a gift certificate on.

Looking for any tips or things to do/look for while breaking in this beauty. I've watched quite a few videos and will be cleaning and lubricating everything before heading.

Thanks in advance

Congrats on the new gun. I sold a SA XDM 45 competition to buy my cmd. I shot mine for the first time last week and I am very happy I sold the Springfield to buy this one. It shot better and was eaiser for me to handle. I have not shot a 1911 since the 70's so it was a real pleasure to shot this one. Ruger did a great job on this gun. I only had one problem with failure to feed not sure what happened but I cleared the gun reloaded and it worked great after that.
(the slide did not got all the way forward) This is now the gun I carry. Good luck & shoot safe. :D

Thanks it will also be my primary carry gun I like my compact for some situations depending on attire and depending on how the full size carries I may look for a cmdr as well

I just received my brand new SR1911 CMD and went to the range for some break in. I was expecting some typical break in FTE or some stiffness but was pleasantly surprised at the feel out of the box.
There was not one FTF or FTE in the 100 rounds I put down range. The trigger was a little stiff at first but worked itself in a little as I used it. The gun's accuracy was insane. The Scottsdale Gun Club is where I shoot so it is indoor. I wanted to shoot relatively close at first so I could see what corrections I would need to make and where I should hold the sights. Using a free hand stance, I lined up the first shot at 35 feet on a BT-5s target. I sighted on on the cross lines at center mass. The trigger has a minuscule take up then a crisp release. When I pulled the target in after the first shot I could not believe my eyes. The hole split the vertical line 1/4" below the horizontal line. Simply amazing!
Everyone can have a lucky shot so I send the target back down to 35 feet and took aim again. This time I was 1/4" to let left of vertical and below the horizontal next to my first shot. Shot three split the difference between the two previous shots... What I had was the equivalent of one large jagged hole.
The 100 rounds that I send down range this morning created 2 inch groups for each magazine. I am definitely impressed by this 45. :D

I just registered on this site today. This is my first post.
My wife and I went to a gun show a couple weeks ago where she saw a Ruger SR1911 CMD. She said thats the prettiest gun I ever saw. She just went on about how pretty it was. She will shoot with me sometimes but she is NOT a gun nut like me. For her to get that excited about a handgun was a real turn-on for me. SO a few days later I decided to get her one for her birthday which is Mar.14. I had gotten a card from the dealer at the show because I purchased a Sccy CPX2 from them. Well They had sold both of the ones they had, but would try to find me one. They got one in yesterday and I went and got it. It really is a beautiful gun. I cant wait to give it to her so I can shoot it too. I hope it is as good as some of you say. i cant wait to find out.
