Around 1974 I purchased at new model Single 6 convertible. Forget what I paid for it but it couldn’t have been much. At that time I owned a ‘74 Plymouth Duster 318 that ran on leaded regular, a Honda 450, a Winchester 30-30, and not much else. Life was good. Loved plinking with the 22 mags and CCI .22 Long was still on the shelves. I parted ways with the pistol years later in the aftermath of a D-I-V-O-R-C-E. I always missed it.
After getting into Henry rifles recently, I started eyeing the Single 6. Well this week I acquired a brand new stainless 5.5” convertible and all I can say is “wow - just wow!” Stainless steel and wood - what a concept.
I find it amazing that with all the things that have changed since 1973, the Single 6 still trucks along unchanged and looking good doing it. Leaded gas is long gone!
I don’t think I’ll change anything on it, it is so darn good looking and good feeling in the hand I’ll get it sighted in and just enjoy it as ol’ Bill Ruger intended. Happy days!
