Bought a low end Simmons 3-9x the other day since my 71 yo eyeballs ain't what they used to be. Got it rough sighted in this morning @about 30yds with Fiocchi 40grn FMJ. Had some issues with my home made rest (wobbly), and trying to find a scope distance from my eye. I need to shim the butt stock an inch or so since I can't move the scope any further forward enough to get a decent cheek weld. Trigger felt a little stiff also, so I'll have to look at that. Probably just needs lube.

Anyway, here's the shot progression (1" grid ):

My 9422 trigger was stiff till I lubed it. Mounted a 4 power Leopold on it with good result no problem with eye relief. I'm 6'2" and the little rifle is a bit on the small side. But sure is fun.

There is a new unfired early 70's Winchester 9422 Magnum lever with the hang tags in one of Dad's gunsafes. I have high hopes that one day it resides out here shooting prairie dogs

Do you know the S/N? Mine was mfg in '73, bought it in early '74. S/N 1298XX.

An unfired rifle of that era is worth keeping in a safe! :D

I have never handled it, just saw it in one of his vaults. Awhile back he said he was going to have me and my two brothers check off on a list of his guns what we would like to have. I know I have a Garand he built for me I have never seen, I also have a Winchester 1897 riot gun, a Remington 700V .223 I built for him for his 75th birthday, some other oddities. I will for sure put my name on that 9422 and will try and remember to check it out next time I am at his house

Had one of those years ago, and stupidly sold it when I was in a single man's bind for money.

Wish I had it back!
