New Ruger Range Report

Today I took my new GP 100 to the range. Here is the amazing result. Firing from twenty feet I noticed that when the bullet was impacting the target they were keyholing. Why were they tumbling so much. I tried different guns no tumbling. I started checking the new gun and lo an behold I had received, just yesterday a smooth bore 357. That's right no rifling at all. Wonder what the DOJ here in Calif. would say about that.
When you purchase your new weapons, check to see that everything is correct.
I will keep you informed as to what Ruger intends to do about it.

:shock: . No rifling huh.... I'd say Ruger will 'happily' take that back and put a new barrel on it for you -- free of charge. Give them a call!

Ruger sent me everything needed to ship my gun back to them, overnight air.
I sent along a note asking them to return the smooth barrel but I doubt they will. Ruger so far has been quite helpful.

I am not sure but many times mistakes can be worth a lot of money. That gun may be worth a premium as a factory release with a smooth-bore. 8) 8)

As a collector, I'd have kept it. Might have been difficult to sell if DOJ found out but.....

Tuff to conceive that ahappening ~ Nah, they won't return a known defective item w/their name on it. Yeh, thets the last you'll see of that barrel

Had that happen to me about 15 years ago on a SP101. You're lucky that it didn't cause an injury. Mine was way undersized.
Ruger made it right, of course. Shoots fine now.

I have not received my revolver back as yet. It has been 20 days.
