I currently own 25 Ruger #1 rifles. This anniversary rifle is a complete joke. For 7500, you get engraving that is the equivalent of lunch pail stickers, etc. Must be at least 6500 profit on each one sold! Ruger should be ashamed. I am surprised they didn't come out with a purple painted #1 to go with your LCP.

I'm surprised Ruger never contoured and counter-sunk the tang safety. My local gunsmith did that on one of mine and turned out so nice. Seems like low-hanging fruit for a rifle that's gotten so expensive. Also, I'd like to see them switch over to the NECG sights and bands. These simple changes would make the gun worth what the standard prices are, at least.

Ruger desperately needs new management. If they want to impress someone, they should have built a #1, color case hardened with an octagon barrel. Then they might have had something to brag about. The engraving on this rifle is so childish, could have done just about the same with a crayon. Now back to your black plastic guns........

This is a huge disappointment in my opinion. Appears to be etched engraving, not hand cut. The checkering is standard, would have been nice with Boddington checkering. Could have had circassian walnut. And the serial number on one I see is R75-443... thought there were only supposed to be 75 of these????
Oh yes, and the $7,500 MSRP is disappointing. This is the reason Ruger's Studio of Art and Decoration didn't last very long. Walter Howe told me that WBR, Jr. wanted a product that would cater to the wealthy... like a Macy's kind of thing... so the studio isn't around any more. Honestly, I don't see 75 of these being sold very easily at all.

Yeah, No. 1 prices have most definitely sored in recent years. And, this one is at least $5,000 overpriced IMHO. Still, there are considerably more deep pocketed individuals out there than most of us Joe Lunchbox types seem to realize. Ruger will sell every last one of these 75...And, effortlessly so.

I figured out why Ruger is numbering these in the R75-4xx range.

R75-1 is the MKIV 6-7/8"
R75-2 is the SR1911
R75-3 is the first 10,000 10/22's
R75-4 is the Number 1
R75-5 is the next 10,000 of 10/22's
R75-6 more 10/22's
R75-7 more 10/22's

Currently Ruger is numbering the R75-6 series and R75-7 series at the same time, just like regular production 10/22's are being numbered within two different prefixes, current 0024- and 0025- I believe.

So I wonder if all the Rugers made this year are considered 75th Anniv guns just like all made in '76 got the Made in 200th Year markings.
