Got ya LOL.
I know y'all were thinkin from the title a new car or truck---but being so poor I can't pay attention, that just ain't happenin.
So what I did was this.
My brother wanted another road bicycle and since I don't ride on the public roads around here he made me a deal.
Awhile back he bought a custom mountain bike frame and bolted on high quality components from his old fully suspended Jamis mountain bike[ a high quality bike, and then he upgrades all ready good components with better ones, can't mess with money] and built this one .We traded straight up and now I have a bike I can ride to help me get back in shape.
It weighs just under 21 pounds and is set up with 24 speed Shimano 10 cog rear cassette and three ring Shimano front crank set, forte rear derailer and brakes, Shram front derailer, Shimano click index shifters, Manitou comp front suspension, Formula rims and hubs and a Exotec Comp 3 aluminum frame = one bad a$$ed mountain bike!!!
Just waitin for the weather to break so I can start ridin again. We have some wicked trails around here and NO chance of getting smashed by a car like you can on these tight little country roads.
Anyway here's a pic of my new old bike.

Lou, that picture reminds me of your "Where's Lou?" pictures a few years back! So I looked and looked, but can't find you in the picture. :lol:

Regardless, it looks like a nice bike, and I hope some riding time helps you get back into shape!

My knees just are not flexible enough to do bikes much anymore. Looks like a nice set up though.
 
This is my 'badest' ride:



I've never weighed it - I know the frame is sub 4 pounds, but my best guess would put the whole bike in the 20 - 22 pound range. It's hard to believe that monster of yours comes in at under 21 pounds.

In any case, lots of fun, good exercise, and not all that hard on one's knees, using a little common sense. My knees aren't the best, along with almost everything else in both legs, I broke the right one. My last ride before the snow fell was about 60 miles.

If you are riding off road, be careful with the front brake. If the timing between your front brake and a tree root are just right, it will flip you over the bars before you can yell oh fudge. Don't ask me how I know that.

Your bike looks great, who is the manufacturer?

I sold my Klein road bike a couple of years ago because of back issues, but I still ride my Specialized Hard Rock comp off road bike that I bought back in 1987.

The new frames and other components have came a long way in the last few years.
Even the tires are high dollar light weight.

Hogan the bike is a custom build my brother did.He cracked the frame on his Jamis and used parts off that and some other stuff he had layin around.
The only thing he bought was the frame and that's a super light weight Exotec Comp3.

Then he dropped $2,000.00 on a new 27 1/2" tired Jamis full suspension bike.
He"s really into bikes .He probably rides 100 miles a week between mountain biking and road riding.I get his left over bikes if there's anything left of them LOL.
I got the Specialized Allez from him that I swapped with him for this bike.

BTW I might just be getting that bike back from him, he has 2 other road bikes and just uses that one as a loaner to his friends that want to try real bike ridin.
There is the new $10,000,000.00 bike route here in the county now. Not really something you can really get up to speed on , but way safer than riding on St. Rt. 5 but runs right along beside it, just really tight turns and REALLY steep hills that you can't get a run at.
It's a tough workout. I ain't up for it just now ,but give me a month or two on the mountain bike on these trails around here and I'll be ready for that.
 
I envy you Lou; I haven't been riding for quite while now, but back in 2003 to get my weight down and get ready for surgery, I was bike riding 30 miles a day, rain or shine. I had an old (Cheap) 18 speed bike with suspension that I bought for $35 from a pawn shop. Of course here there aren't any hills to climb, but in the local Bike park (Flatwoods) you can go off the paved trail and cut through the woods on "paths". The deep sand gets to be loads of fun as do the roots and occasional log.
I DID get my weight down and was in great shape for Reffing my soccer matches. Still got the bike, just not the energy and ambition now, Plus I've got a pinched nerve in my back that even limits my walking.

Nice! Been a lover of 2-wheel peddle power since I was 8 or 10yo. had the road bike phase for a bit before starting the mt bike thing. Loved it! Plummeting down a slim mountain on two wheels...yeah! Now it's more of a hard pick dirt path ride since that's what the boy prefers. Been debating building a vintage path racer styled rider but these new fat tire bikes are interesting. Still a high wheeler would be great too.
