I just traded yesterday for a New model Super Black Hawk 44 mag, by the ser # it dates to 1987 and it has a 5 1/2" barrel. Where its stamped Ruger .44 Magnum Cal New Model Super Black Hawk it has a yellow colored paint or something in the stamped letters. Just wondering why this is, I've seen other Black Hawks and they are not like this and the blueing is a plum color. Has somebody done this or is it factory this way? I have pictures but dont know how to post them.
 
Just something some folks do. Some will use gold leaf others I just simple crayons. It appeals to some but not myself.
 
Thanks for the info BlkHawk. I kinda like the colored letters, just didnt know if it was factory done or not. This is my first 44 mag revolver, gonna try it out one day this week.
