Thanks Robb ...... Stroh did his accurizing pkg, front site & #5 style base pin. Turnbull did the CCH and nitre blue & Larry Caudill fit the custom Turkish walnut grips from an extraordinary piece of exhibition grade wood I supplied.

Many have come and gone, so I'm down to these two .45x Flattops. And my opinion is, calling plywood grips "laminated", just to make them more appealing, is a waste of breath.

Where did you find Larry?

Not many know him .......

A friend who had a horse ranch near Sante Fe, owns a couple SA's with custom grips meticulously fit by him that I thought were outstanding. He initially made a set of custom pre-ban Elephant Ivory grips for my Colt D'back that are exceptional, and being a perfectionist, couldn't think of anyone better to finish off the custom Lipsey flat-top Bisley in the pics. Needless to say, his work speaks for itself.

Does anybody know who the actual manufacturer of all the "plywood" used to make the laminated grips and stocks that are so common (because they WORK) in the gun industry now? There used to be, many years ago, one supplier of this "birch lamination plus dye" patented material, Rutland Plywood in Rutland, VT. I believe there was a Finnish patent for the dye additives.

Anybody know more about this stuff? Sometimes I really like it. Sometimes it is just plain ugly or garish. But it's all TOUGH.
