I just joined the forum. I'm a long time gun nut and a long time Ruger owner. I bought my first Blackhawk in the early 1960's. I have hunted and shot targets for years and I have a large collection of handguns, rifles and shotguns. I spent 37 years in law enforcement and for a couple of years I was a member of my departments PPC revolver team. I am looking forward to my membership on the Ruger Forum.

Being a new member, I would like to ask a question about a Blackhawk I acquired recently: It is a 1959 Flattop Blackhawk as new in the box. It has Ruger walnut grips that appear finished with a professional varnish-like finish. Can anyone tell me if Ruger sold 1959 era Blackhawks with such a finish on the walnut grips?
