Hard hats originally had a brim all the way around. Like the world war one helmet, hard hats eventually evolved into what you see now.

That’s interesting to know about bump caps. I’ve cracked my head a number of times in low clearance situations. I have wished I had a hard hat on, but it wasn’t a situation I thought I needed it. I usually wear a baseball hat but that only helps so much. On actual construction sites I always wear a hard hat.

The bump hat I was given at work. Is literally a baseball hat with a removable liner. It’s not great but it’s better than nothing.

A few weeks ago, I stopped at Tractor Supply Co Store in Fort Collins to get an item. As I have mentioned here numerous times in the past, I was openly wearing my revolver on my hip. As usual, no one paid any attention to my revolver.
However, an older gentleman stopped me and mentioned that he liked my hat. He said that he had always liked "cowboy hats" but had never owned one. I took my hat off, showed it to him and pointed out that it was a 7X Beaver, Stetson, that I have owned for over 30 years. I told him that it had been cleaned a couple of times over the years, but a good Beaver Fur hat should last forever if taken care. He looked it over carefully and thanked me before leaving.

I appreciate your pride in a nice cap but I don't "advertise" except for the brand of tire, seed, fertilizer, or tractor.
