New bullet for the .500 Maximum

This past summer I designed a heavy LFN for my .500 Maximum and .50 Alaskan using Mountain Mold’s website. Weighing 585 grains, I've been pleased with how it shoots. I don't really see myself buying or ordering a .500. Mainly because of the expense. But lots of us have .480's of one flavor or another. If you took the design down to that caliber, you might see a lot of interest.

Any chance of getting another photo showing this slug next to a few common others??? Maybe a 158gr 38 and 240gr 44. Just something that will show the size comparison.

Have you tried it in a lever action rifle? Looks like a nice bullet for my Marlin 50 Alaskan or Winchester 1886 50-110 if it will feed.

50-110 Winchester is .512.... 500 Maximum is .500. However the same design could be utilized.

The 500 Maximum is .512". It is a lengthened 500 Linebaugh, also known as a 500 Linebaugh Long or 500 Linebaugh Maximum. 1.6" case length versus the 1.4" Linebaugh. You might be thinking of the .500 S&W Magnum, which is a .500" bullet.

I guess it stabilizes OK in the Max Lee? And yeah, how fast will it go?

Shoots better than the 525 Buck. As for speed, the loads are listed in the second link provided. But in brief, the 585 runs 1,250 fps at peak.

yep have a 500 to go with the 50 cal rifles but its just a little 500 instead of 512.
