I just recently bought a new BCG for my AR-556. I wanted an Mil-Spec (M-16) design, which has a fully shrouded firing pin and has more steel on the carrier itself. It is a Premium PSA brand.
There were a few reasons why I bought a new BCG, but, the main reasons can be seen in the video I will leave at the end of my post.
I could feel the difference immediately when I started shooting my AR! I look at it as a great investment! I will keep the Ruger BCG as an extra.

Congrats, but no justification necessary, it's your money, your rifle.

Modify it any way that makes you like it more.

It aint a big secret that not all AR's are created equal, or that cheap AR's are made from cheap parts. So hey, if replacing critical parts with something better makes you sleep better at night, you won't be getting any arguments from me.

I look at it like this; people buy entry level AR's and start adding things to them. Such as, high dollar scopes, MAGPUL furniture, new M-4 stocks, bipods, and a gazillion magazines. Well, I put my money into the MOST important part of the whole AR rifle, the BCG! Contradict my beliefs, say I'm silly to replace a perfectly good BCG, or, whatever you feel like throwing at me. But, anyone that knows anything about the AR rifle KNOWS that the BCG is the heart of the AR rifle!
I bought the PSA Premium BCG, part #39339 (No logo, that was $10 extra), which came with 10 boxes of American Eagle 55 gr .223 ammo, for $89.99, with FREE SHIPPING! This BCG usually sells for $149.99 at PSA. So, what have you to say now?

Well, beings how you asked, what I say is....
That is probably the best $89 that ever got spent on a Ruger AR.
And no, I wouldn't have paid the $10 extra for the PSA logo either. I'm far too much of a tite-wad for that. Plus, my vanity don't run that deep...if ya get my drift.
