Well I own an older ruger 10/22 carbine from way back when the trigger guard was metalic and no mag release lever. prob last 70 or early 80s.It was alway and still is like new and reliable as all getup.Ive been hesitant to buy a new one as was conserned about the plastic trigger guard assy and plastic mag release.
Any way ipicked upthe new stain steel version mod 1256 at dicks last week for $204.00 was 259-25 sale for the blue-25 on coupons -10 for rewards.
Any way I also pickup a few of the 9.99 10 rd mags from CDNN a while back.
put on the weaver see thru sight with an old 2.5x32 tasco scope.then bore sighted.Well in no time I was shooting the lily pad flowers between 50-100 yds.Every mag performed flawlessy no jams or misfisses from an old box of remington value packs.any way its a great shooter and reliable as can be.get one if you dont have one.

Shoot safely,
Joe

Yup, all those years of HK's, Glocks, XD's certainly give cause for concern about polymer parts. ;)

Kidding aside, congrats on your new 10/22. Picked up #18 myself last week. They're one of those models that should be a staple in the firearms food groups. :)

I agree with you on the hesitation to try a synthetic trigger assembly although I have not had a problem with that area of my recently purchased SS synthetic camo stocked 10/22. I have had to relieve the side pressure onthe magazine well to achieve easy magazine insertion and removel, an aftermarket 25 round (non Ruger ) magazine would not seat properly, one brand of hollow point ammo repeatedly jammed (from every one of 5 Ruger 10 shot magazines so an ammo issue), AND after about the 50th shot from the new rifle the front sight flew off. I returned the rifle to the store of purchase. Keep the early model carbine. I think the quality control, not the materials, were better back then. AM
