Need some Info on Ruger blackhawk 357 7 1/2" barrel

How rare are 7 1/2" barreled blackhawks. One listed on local Armslist
with decent price but well used. blue gone from backstrap and holster wear
on barrel. Price $600 but negiotible with 50 rounds of factory ammo.
Is this high/low? Thinking about one to javilena hunt with alread have 6 1/2"
convertible. Thanks any info appreciated.

Price seems a mite high to me. I think $450 more reasonable price. I'm assuming you mean a Three Screw model. I know there were some 7 1/2" models out there, but I've never seen one. Wanted one awhile back and did a search, but to no avail.

The only 7.5 barreled 357 Blackhawk that I am aware of, is the Bisley. If it is a Bisley gripframe, that is pretty close to the going rate for them. I have a couple and they are my favorite centerfire revolvers. They shoot like rifles and can handle about any load that you put in them with virtually no recoil. I personally think they have no peer as a 357 hunting revolver.

If there are some 7-1/2" non-Bisley .357's out there...good luck getting a letter on them! Ruger never cataloged such an animal, so it wouldn't be listed in their records as a 7-1/2" either.

Finally got to see Blackhawk 357 mag and someone had changed from a bisley to a plow handle. I thought something was not correct but not enought knowledge to spot at first. Thanks guys for information.

in all my years I've never seen or heard of a 7 1/2 3 screw blackhawk. Ive seen 6 1/2 " barrel .357 plenty, Ive got one 3 screw and a 7 1/2 super blackhawk .44 mag. beautiful workman ship. Soo smooth.

IIRC, Skeeter once had a 10 1/2" flattop .357 cut to 7 1/2" and remarked it was the best balanced and best handling .357 he'd used... I've never seen a factory 7 1/2" .357 if there ever was such, but there's quite a bit I haven't seen yet...
