I have a single six with a serial # 9370X, can anyone give me info on the age of the pistol and value? I bought it from my uncle's estate and it appears in very nice condition. Any information would be appreciated. I can post pictures if it would help.
Thanks
Mitch

Welcome to the Forum!
Well we'll see if we can help. Most likely it was made in 1958. To confirm that, you can call Ruger directly, ask for "records" dept and give them the serial number and the caliber/model. They will give you the correct model info (example: RSS5) the month & year of shipment. All for free. If you ask they will also send out a letter with that info.
Now as to value.
Condition, condition, condition.
Next, if it happens to be a rarer variation it'll command higher prices. A plus to value would be the box, and any or all the paperwork that it was shipped with. To have the cardboard shipping "bookwrap" is a huge plus. Has it had the safety conversion? If so, and the original parts are not with it, the value decreases.
The devil is in the details.
Could be from a low of $250 or so, up to $500 or so depending,,,! Details,,,,,,,!!!!!!!!

Yessir, welcome to the Forum, good info above and the call will be the way to go..... get the basic ship date....
as for the gun itself it is in the serial number range for the first, type 1 round gate, (1958) RSS5 ,meaning the loading gate itself is rounded on the back, easy to open...the other features should be a "dimpled face" ejector rod, and the steel ejector housing should be of the longer offset slot, we call it the long throw .....the later ones were a "straight" slot the whole length........
should be NO 'transfer bar' inside the rear hammer slot, telling you that it was NOT sent back and the "safety" conversion update was done to the gun, good selling/value point, and the grips should be the black hard rubber ( plastic) type, checkered with the black eagle medallion .........
sounds like a good gun, nice model to have, and any pictures would be great to see....tells us MORE of what 'Ty' said, "condition, condition...." and thats what the true value , worth will be determined, bottom line that is a $300 plus value gun, MORE if in mint shape, MORE if you can come up with any of the box, paper work, etc............

s/n 81370 Not "Perfect" but a decent example.......
