Neat handiwork

I've mentioned before that I'm involved in a Widowed Men's Group at my church. At our last meeting on older gent, a veteran who also meets with a veteran's group, brought some photos of one of their member's work. I was a progressive set of photos.

This man had started with a large log from a cherry tree, actually a stump. Using only a chain saw, he carved an image of the flag raising on Iwo Jima. After carving he painted the carving in correct colors. He used photographs of the monument in Washington D.C. as his model. Even the furled flag was carved with a chainsaw, and correctly painted.

Some men are really talented.

I sort of thought about this todaay as I cleared up my fallen tree limb.

As a matter of fact, my two daughters, one in Texas and one in Ohio, each asked me for one of my car models I made. So I packed one up for each and sent them to them. And they seemed proud to get them.
