Nearing a milestone..............

Most of y'all know I keep a log book of my shooting, sort of an odometer for my guns. After this morning's session, this .44 stands at 9,915 rounds fired.



Bought used from an individual, a Three Screw .357 Magnum, removed the conversion parts, replaced aluminum parts with steel, sent to Dave Clements for conversion to .44 Special. Walnut grips by CaryC.

Is that 9919 just the rounds you put through it, or did the guy you bought it from keep track as well?

Who does your color case?

Is what we see there original or did you alter it in any way?

The gun was a .357 Magnum originally, and I have no idea how many rounds it launched prior to my acquisition. The gun is all original except for the grip frame and ejector assembly. The grip frame is from an Old Army, the ejector assembly I bought from Brownell's, not sure which brand. I took out the innards to remove the transfer bar conversion and replace them with parts found elsewhere. The trigger was a wide trigger from Dave Clements.

Well, seems only the frame, cylinder, barrel and rear sight were all that remained from the original. Doug Turnbull did the case hardening, The .357 Magnum cylinder was rebored as was the barrel.

Since the barrel and cylinder were "new" as a .44 Special, the count is only what I fired through the gun.

I bought two from the gent, as he had a 4 5/8" and a 6 1/2" .357. He told me he would take $200 for either one, take my pick. I had just over $400 on me, so I took my pick ~ both guns!

Here is the other gun, still a .357 Magnum, but removed the transfer bar bar and replaced with Three Screw parts. Also an Old Army grip frame and Dave Clements wide
trigger. Still a diamond in the rough.
