Navy Seal Foundation SR1911

Best looking SR1911 I've seen. Absolutely gorgeous. Nothing like polished clean flats on a 1911. Long trigger, flat mainspring housing, and thankfully NOT two tone, and no stupid front slide serrations. Nice looking grips too, although I'd swap them out for a nice pair of black or grey VZ's with a matching mag well from Smith and Alexander.
No gaudy writing all over the slide either, thank God. I could easily live without the gold Ruger emblem though.
Otherwise, Perfect ! I hope they didn't booger up the other side .....
Why don't they make one like that available all the time without the whole collector edition concept ?

Maybe a flat black emblem on the gloss black polished area, rather than the gawdy gloss gold .... And yes .... I realize it's a Navy Seal tribute gun. Not a fan of any gold on guns .... Or cars ....
I'd still shoot it if I had one. It looks a lot better in all blue ... Or black .... Or whatever it is .... Than the two tone stainless and black.

That is an incredibly nice looking 1911. I really wanted a blue 1911 when I bought mine, but didnt have the option, apart from a very unattractive Remington. There is still a big hole in my heart that can only be filled by a blued 1911. Someday...
I'm glad to see Ruger doing a limited run for an organization like that. Pretty cool that they all get USNxxx serial numbers, too.

Also like that the slide is plain. I like my sr1911, but don't like all the stuff all over the slide. I wonder if its still got the warning underneath.

Next, I asked for the cost of just the gun and "rev high" was kind enough to quote a "guess price".

Lastly, you chime in and insinuate I might be trying to purchase the gun without supporting the cause..

I looked on Talo's website and didn't see anything about it as I'd like to see more pics. Offhand it looks pretty decent. Maybe I shouldn't be, but only 500 surprises me as I believe a blued/black SR1911 would sell pretty well.

I fear these 500 will go to some with direct Ruger connections, some to Talo's best distributors, some to the distributor's best dealers, some to the dealer's best retail customers and we can have the last of the 500 ...if any are left...

I'm waiting on Ruger to release a blued sr 1911. Then I'll buy one. Might have to wait a while..... I'm ok with that

Wouldn't bother me a bit. As worthy as the cause is ... It's still a Ruger SR1911, not a high end polished Colt, so collector value will likely be negligible in the overall marketplace. I only said $1000 because usually the Talo stuff is about $100 more, and then the $100 for the donation.
Value-wise, from what I've seen .... The Talo stuff has never really appreciated very much if at all.
If you're buying this .... I'd buy it because you like the look of it, and are going to shoot it .... Not because of the SEAL thing .... You can ALWAYS make a donation on your own at ANY TIME to that most worthy cause. :D

I don't need the gold emblems or fancy grips, but it is the best looking sr1911 model they've made so far. I really like the all black, and plain slide. I wonder if it is still stainless steel? Ed

TALO was limited to 500 units by the factory. The factory is sensitive to the fact that many are still looking for the basic gun. So TALO is very happy to get 500 units. Thank you all for the kind words regarding this pistol.
There was also a reference to the future value of TALO guns. I humbly submit that there are many examples of TALO projects that have seen significant appreciation in the short period they have been out.

Great gun for a great cause - and don't knock the donation. I won't disclose the wholesale cost, but I will say this - if you can find one for $999, buy it or give me the info and I'll buy it!
As for Talo - I bought 7 of the Last Cowboy Vaqueros for myself before I became a dealer, for somewhere in the neighborhood of $550 each. I know of two that just sold for $1250 each.
As a dealer, I bought 110+ of each of the 22 Birdshead Single Sixes, with the ivory (I think 450 units total) and black grips (650 units total)- I kept 10 of each for myself, and the ivory gripped version is selling now in the $800 plus range. I think they qualify for the "significant appreciation" award.
Side note - before I get hammered with emails, the 22's are not for sale!
