It’d be nice to keep this in Lounge and not slide down the hill into Politics. It’s about the service members, not how or why or who sent them.

A remarkable 81,000 Americans are still listed as Missing In Action, dating back to the American Revolution. The suffering endured by service members in enemy captivity still haunts many American families.

I have it marked on my calendar,, and I have a POW/MIA bracelet in my truck. It's my 4th bracelet from Vietnam. The other 3,, are retired. (2) returned home alive at the end of the war, and the 3rd had his remains found & returned about 13 years ago. My 4th,, is still listed as MIA.

I used to be friends with a lady now passed who lost her big brother in Vietnam. His name was Dean Pogreba. Our little airport in Three Forks ,Mt was named Pogreba field after him. He was shot down and apparently captured. He was the subject of congressional inquiries for years, lots of sightings, evidence etc. But she died a while back never knowing his fate. He is still MIA. Some think our govt has more info but we'll never know. I think I will run a patch on my Legion riders vest with the ,riding to remember him since his family is all gone now.

I have worn mine since Dec 1971. Col. Dean Pogreba was shot down in his F-105 and according to the Chinese the plane crash landed in China and was destroyed. However, when American reps came looking for his remains, the Chinese gave them his I.D. card in perfect condition. One story goes he parachuted down and was in the jungles unable to be rescued, but periodically had supplies dropped to him by his C.O. who eventually got rotated back to the states. Col. Pogreba's whereabouts are unknown. I also bought a bracelet for my daughter and her man came home safe and sound. May we never forget all of them for their service!
