Unable to identify this shotgun receiver. Can you?

the bolt release is on the right side, forward to the bolt. The only marking is a serial number.

Yup.... sure looks like the old recoil-operated Remington. I'm surprised there's no "Reminton Arms" mark on it.

Did any company make a knock-off that wouldn't be marked ?

Interesting gun, recoil operated like its predecessor the Model 11 (Browning Auto 5 clone) with the trimmed down appearance of its gas operated successor the Model 1100. Dunno if there were any copies.

I think Remington has used that exact receiver profile for every pump and semi auto since the late 40's, The original pic was immediately identifiable as a Remington product.

Rick, I found a couple of these on gunbroker. Great looking shotgun. I'm not sure what parts I would need to build one. Looks like they aren't cheap...

How much would the receiver sell for?

Gotta agree. Looks like my buddy's 1148 Rem.

Check for a hairline crack at the aft end of the bolt cutout. It's common with the 11-48. There's an old thread on Shotgun World about it.
