Several years ago I had a weak moment and let someone talk me out of my old model Super Bearcat. I realized I made a mistake the moment I had agreed to the deal. I have looked for a long time for a replacement.

Monday I was out of town on business and during an extended lunch break stopped by a gun store. I looked around and saw some interesting things and I asked the proprietor with whom I've done some business with prior if he had any old model Rugers. He told me he did not and said when he gets an old model it usually sales fairly quick.

I was about to leave when I noticed a glass cabinet that I had not yet looked in. Could it be...a Bearcat in the cabinet (the owner forgot he had it). I asked to see the Bearcat with blued trigger guard. Sure enough it was an old model (un-converted) with serial # 91-4494*. The asking price was fair, but I had still had to haggle. Sure enough he had some wiggle room in the old SuperBearcat and we made a deal. I'll just say it was less than I paid for my first one! :D

I would say condition is excellent with just a hint of muzzle wear on the left side, but no box. Here are some photos. The grip screw on the right side looks bad in the photos, but I think it is just old oil and dirt. I have not had time to give the old thing a thorough cleaning. Should know how she shoots this weekend.

The red on the loading gate and just above on the frame is from my camera's red eye reduction lamp I forgot to turn off.

Well I took this old thing to the range today. My last Super Bearcat shot high and left. This one just shoots high with LR so I can deal with that. It didn't take me long to zero in at 20 yards. I took some CCI Long CB's (conical ball) today also. Let me tell you these CB's shoot dead on at 20, 25 and 30 yards. I have never shot 22 Longs before, but I really like them. They came with this Super Bearcat as part of the deal and I'm glad they did. I will be buying more of them.

Overall a great day at the range. Best of all I spent some quality time with my dad. He took is Henry .22 lever gun and we burned up close to 1000 rounds between the two of us. I'm just glad it was on .22's :D

This Super Bearcat is now a keeper since I know what she likes to be fed.

Sounds like a great day! I like the CCI CB longs too. I stacked them at 25yds today with my rifle. Avoid the Remingtons if they're still made.

Can't beat some time out shootin'!
