Looks great! Just like my new one. Now I don't need to post any pictures. lol I'm hoping to go to the range this weekend to try mine out for the first time. I guess it's not that big a deal for you since you already have a SR556. I have bought some accessaries for it so I guess I'll do up some pictures after they come in. 8)

where does a sling connect on the front?

The only sling attachment is on the bottom of stock. I don't mind because now I can get a picatinny sling adapter and put the front one where I want it. I have one on order and it will be attached to the LH rail for start. I'm also getting a bipod which has the same type of adapter as the sling, so I can attach sling on bottom/front rail when not using bipod. Quad rails are nice to have. You can put all kinds of goodies on them. 8)

Finally got to shoot the SR-556C. 94 degrees and windy. Busy day at the range, so the evaluation took longer than expected.

Took the standard SR-556 (left) for comparison.

Did my normal 10rd break in with cleaning after each shot.

Ammunition for the evaluation included Federal XM193 55gr FMJ, Winchester 5.56mm 55gr FMJ, Remington UMC 55gr FMJ, Federal 55gr Value Pack, Black Hills 68gr BTHP, and Prvi Partizan 75gr Match.

Primer strikes appear to be sufficient.

A comparison of the SR-556 (right) and SR-556C (left). I was thinking that the 556C would have more recoil impulse due to the shorter barrel and 1/2lb lighter weight as compared to the original SR-556. But after switching between rifles, I couldn't tell much of a difference (if any). The C model felt like it returned to target as quickly as the standard model. Maybe give a slight edge to the SR-556 for being a little more stable during repeated firing.

I was testing function more than accuracy because it was windy and I was frustrated. Range was 50 yds with iron sights. A 100 yd accuracy test will be done another day.

All ammunition functioned on setting No. 2. No malfunctions.

The bolt face after the 205 rounds fired. I ran heavy oil for the initial outing.

After 205 rds no signs of carrier tilt wear.

Very pleased with my first outing with the SR-556C. Very quick handling gun. If anyone has ever been on the fence about purchasing an SR-556 because of the front end weight the C model eliminates the issue. I will be transferring my EOTech EXPS2-2 to the SR-556C as this has become my new 'street fighter'.

Deadduck: I have yet to invest in the SR, I do have a couple of Colt AR's and love them, like your's they are standard and carbine. I sure do like the looks of that "C" model. How does it compare weight/balance/length wise to the Colt CAR (if you know)? Also does the action really stay cleaner then a standard AR? Anyway nice looking pair there. Have fun.

Have 2 Carbines & 9mm, the SR-56C is a little heavier but it is a piston system and they are a little heavier. The C is lighter and handier than the standard SR-556.

So much cleaner, you just wipe the bolt and carrier off with a dry rag, no powder, no carbon, very nice. Now there is some fouling on the piston and regulator but that is also much easier to clean than the impacted carbon on a DI bolt and inside the carrier. Very nice and easy to clean.

Hrmm, my standard SR-556 is dam accurate for a 16", have shot several sub-MOA groups.

I shoot Marine style qual almost every week and I spend a lot of time at 500 and 600 yards with iron sights with store bought ammo. It's better than when I was in the MC with their beat up colts but I want more. It's still a great AR

I'm really pleased with my Bushmaster Varminter. But you may want to hold out for a little while, from Ruger's web-site it looks like they may have another SR-556 in the works. They have a Predator SR-556 Survey so they may be looking into a longer range, more accurized SR-556.
