I repair and refinish Gun stocks, am just finishing up one for a friend of mine (a son of a deceased friend) I done one for him before, I'm handicapped and its something I can do sitting on my butt, and I enjoy it, I have showed another friend how to refinish them and he has done about 20 of his in the past 3 years, I called the young friend and told him his rifle would be ready tomorrow, he said he had showed the one I did for him before and several friends want to Pay me to do some for them, I do NOT have any dealing with people under 60 unless I know them well, I'm afraid of being sued even if they got in to an auto accident on the way over to my place to deliver or pick up the gun.

If you are that worried you need an a new hobby. Even if they DID have an accident on the way to, or from your house it wouldn't be your fault.
I live in Florida, you live in Oregon. I want you to work on my stock, so I package it up and on the way to the shipping station I total my truck. There is no way I could sue you.

If you do not have an FFL, they should leave only the wood, or parts other than the serial numbered receiver.

The age of people has little to do with it. There are good and bad folks of all ages, the 20 year old liar will one day be a 60 year old liar. If you trust the young man you did the stock work for, trust also that he has good judgement in who he chooses for friends.

I've tried making a little money doing some things on the side that I enjoy but it seems I always undercharge for the time and effort I put into the projects. If I break even I consider myself lucky and that is after paying myself about $2 / hour.
If you enjoy working on gunstocks and can get enough business by word-of-mouth I would say go for it. There isn't much chance of a dissatisfied customer that way. If you want more business a little ad here or there should bring you plenty more customers.

I'm 76 years old I enjoy doing stocks I do not want money for doing them. I do not enjoy being around young people, after I broke my neck and have to walk with a walker I soon found out about younger men several have tried to knock me down because I could not get out of their way fast enough and their rude. I do not want special treatment I just want the younger men to stay away from me and I sure in the He** aint going to do them any favors.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing then. Stay away from anyone under 60 because they're all out to get you. You don't need any more aggravation or worry.

I'll just say at 14 one of my favorite people to hang around with was an old guy about 80. Spent quite a few Saturdays having breakfast with him and doing odd jobs for him. Did work for him on occasion even after I was married.

I'm sure he doesn't mean all younger guys are like that but we all know what youths can do. We all probably did some bad stuff when we were young.
