I have 5 of these .38 Special Service Sixes, all are Cook County Hospital security trade in guns. They are all close in serial number so I picked out this one to call about. 4 of them came with the Sile Ruger medallion rubber grips, and one came with stock factory wood panels. I was curious how they left the factory, and why the one had woods on it and the rest the rubber grips.
This one left Ruger in Oct. 1985, and it's an SDA-84HP, just like Terry T said it would be!
I assume the H means Heavy Barrel and the P is for the rubber grips?
Next I'll have to call about the one that came with the wood grips, to see if these were added later or it came with them from the factory.
It's too bad the grips are trashed, I may leave the rubber grips on 2 of them and the woods on the remaining 3.
