Here's a few pictures of my newly acquired Blackhawk convertible 44/44-40 number 1035. It's no safe queen, been fired and carried but not abused. I got the gun, the 44-40 cylinder and the book in the original box for $475.00. I think I got a deal...
Yes, you got a very good deal. BTW; the actual number is 87-01035. It does not mean it was the 1035th one made. The serials for those fall in with the other SBH's at the time.
I don't know what contender is talking about,,,but those guns were made in a block from 87-00001 through 87-01219, RENE page 229.
Your gun is # 01035 towards the end.
PS; even though its a "shooter" you still stole it!
Very good price!! Some of the last guns did not ship with the second cylinder, either...........They were indeed built in a single block of numbers. 8)
Here are mine. I got a stainless 44 magnum and a stainless 44-40 in 4 5/8 barrel lengths. I bought a 44 mag. Bisley cylinder for $75.00 and an unchambered cylinder from Brownells. Took the guns to Andy Horvath and he set them up. Now have convertible Vaqueros 44mag/ 44-40. I shoot them in black with the 44-40's in Pale Rider category and with 44 mags. in a smokeless category in cowboy action.

The extra is a 5.5 inch barreled Bisley Vaquero. Got a pair of them now too, but they get shot a lot less now that I have the convertibles.
