I recently won this on GB. My goal was to have a 1960 marked Single Six and Single Six Magnum. (I was born in 1960). It showed up to be a little more worn than I had hoped for, but I still am happy with the purchase.

I got the Letter- turns out it is a RSSMW that originally came with both the WMR and LR cylinders. I only got the WMR cylinder. It also should have had walnut grips, but instead it came with a nice set of rubber grips. The grip frame is a little beat up, and the bluing is thin in spots. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet.

At some point I would like to get a set of nice original walnut grips. Maybe even the LR cylinder. But for now I'm happy.

I was hoping for one that was built in the month I was born, but no such luck. (I also got a letter for my .45 built in 1976, 200th year marking - it was born in July. So that's pretty cool in my book). The original seller of this Single Six was Edward K. Tryon & Co- billed as " The oldest gun house in America" so that's pretty cool too.

Cool. I have one too. The 6.5" convertibles of this time period were Magnums with an extra LR cylinder...opposite of the other barrel lengths. Mine has all the stuff to go with it too. I got lucky...bought locally, sold new in Dallas (less than an hour away). Mine was born in 1965.

Randy, nice gun and pics too... I thought I recognized the Edward K Tryon name so I pulled up the one and only Ruger letter that I've sent for and there it was "Edward K. Tryon Co."... I had no idea that it was the oldest 'gun house' in the US. Enjoy your great 3-screw. Here's my letter:

There's actually a whole lot of history about the Tryon Co online. Pretty cool!

Edit: I found a paperback history of the Tryon Co on Amazon. 11 bucks, why not. I got the last one.

GG,
You have a Single-Six Convertible which came with the mag cylinder unlike the one in the OP witch is a "Magnum Marked" Single-Six Convertible (RSSMX) that came with the extra 22LR cylinder S/N range 300001-394740.
No "Magnum Marked" Single-Sixs were produced after 1964.
You do have a very nice package.

Minor correction. Being a RSSMW and a convertible didn't mesh. Weaselmeatgravy helped me out on that. So I mssg'd Ruger and just got a call back that the letter was in error. It is a single cylinder gun that originally had walnut grips. They are issuing a new letter.
