Multitasking

This afternoon I realized I needed to reload some 74 gr. wadcutters .358 cal. for small game, I also wanted to watch Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl. Don't want a TV in the gun room so I grabbed my Lee Hand Loader and got both jobs done from my recliner. Multitasking

Looks like you did good. However, I've made it 35+ year habit of no interruptions while loading ammo. My life may depend upon it.

Agreed and I've been reloading longer than you have, priming and powder drop were done in the gun room. Only bullet seating was done during the game with the right trays I'm pretty comfortable with what I was doing. Should have mentioned that.

Excellent observation.

I had one manager back before I retired (computer programmer for almost
thirty years) that told me again and again and again that I should be able
to "multi-task". I finally told him that if I were a wrench-twister like he had
been (he was one of the field repair people for our company, before he got
promoted to management), I would be able to. In programming, you single
thread. I do the same thing when I reload. Each step, one at a time, as many
times as it takes, then go on to the next.
I'm quite pleased with the consistency I get in my reloads.

The only things I do in front of the TV is sort cases and seat primers. Pretty hard to make a mistake but I have seated a few upside down(usually catch that before dropping in the bucket).

Lucky Joe, that is good to know. Thanks for clarifying it. Looks like you were able to enjoy both things at once!

That said, I also have been known to count cases, sort ammo, chamber check, & other chores of reloading in front of the TV. I use my press to seat primers 99.9% of the time, so I've never done that away from the bench.

Thank you Contender, did not mean to come off as a careless reloader. My reloading takes place at my bench today was an exception. My focus was to emphasize the Lee tool. Wanted to get some rounds ahead, my Redhawk shoots those 74 gr. wadcutters like a rifle. Have a great 2015.

Only multi-tasking I do is listening for the drier to buzz when clothing is dry while reloading.

Good for a laugh, maybe. :lol: I'd just finished my stalk on my antelope in 2009 and was having a bit of a problem getting steady on the shooting sticks the guide provided. He's talking quietly tell me to calm down and I'm answering him I am calm when I squeezed off the shot while still making my comment about being calm. The antelope drops ands the guide said, "I can't believe you made that shot while holding a conversation. I looked at him and said with a straight face, "I'm very good at multitasking." The guide was laughing so hard he had to sit down. I still chuckle to myself when I think about it. :lol:

Hi,

I've been known to do a lot of loading tasks in front of the TV, but my powder drops and bullet seating are always done in a "Pay strict attention to what you're doing!" environment. I know Joe's not a newbie at this, so figured he was probably paying more attention than it first appears--glad to hear he was! There ARE benefits to single staging it, ya know?
