I am just about done replacing the piston and cylinder in my ms250.....
Question is, I have a short yellow wire that I can't remember where it goes.... I'm pretty sure it is a ground and I think it goes from the coil to the ground screw....
See in the pic, I ran it from the coil mounting screw to the ground screw.... Is this right???

Thanxs for clearing things up!!! I should have photo'd it or taped it....

The photos I've seen of the MS-250 indicate that that one wire from the harness lands under the coil mount, and the jumper goes from that mount to the cylinder. You have the harness ground joined at the cylinder instead. Electrically speaking, I think it'll be fine either way with that short and robust jumper.

I watched the video, and also captured this screen shot from a similar tutorial on youtube...
The arrows were added by me.....

It looks right.... The lead is so short there aren't many options I guess!!

I'll have time to fire it up today..... One thing is fer sure.. I've had it apart so many times checking things, I can do it in my sleep now!!!
Thanks for all the input!!

ciao....

Looks like a ground-to-ground connection...the engine being the "better" end of it.

...grounding case to engine...

After looking at a bazillione video's.. each of whic glossed over that part or had a finger or hand conveniently in the way, Itook the darn thing apart one more time...
I'm getting good at it!
I put it back together.. seeing no other place that darn pigtail would go except to the on/off/choke lever.....
I put gas in her, and after a bit of priming on my part... (I had to pour a bit of gas down the plug hole... about 6 times!)... she finally roared to life... I started her 4-5 times just to be sure!!
Now I'll field test her, and hopefully I only need to buy one more chainsaw this year...... 2 is going to be the minimum!!

I've got my eye on a stihl 311... I just need 579 of you guys to send me a dollar!!!! :)
