I see various places this rifle listed, but all out of stock, and have never heard of anyone having actually bought one. I currently have the Ruger American Ranch in .300blk for my boys to shoot,  but they have a hard time loading the rotary mag, they only hold 5 which is a pain with 2 boys shooting 50rds at a whack, and extra mags are expensive. I like the mvp because it takes AR mags and would make the shooting a whole lot more fun for the boys, but I can't find one anywhere

They are focusing on marksmanship. They are using it to hunt. I just got back from Africa, having taken animals with one shot out to 300yds, they are learning to shoot like that. This is about saving me hassle and limiting time sitting around as they are just kids and need to stay focused. Thanks for just assuming this post meant spray and pray, and putting negative s@!t on it. In case you also made another assumption, this is a bolt action rifle, not a semi. The need for this rifle would be the ease of aquiring cheap mags (to decrease their wait time for me to reload the shitty rotate mag, which would then increase the amount of good shooting time and keep their focus) and to have a rifle that feeds reliably as the RAR sucks at this

Do they actually make them? Savage made one for a time but accuracy troubles (IIRC) and ejection issues caused lots of headaches so they stopped.

I wasn't real impressed with the one (.223) MVP I tried. It was a stage rifle in a match, so I didn't have a chance to look it over ahead of time. Actually I thought it was a Remington 700 at first and trying to shoot it I kept think "my God this is the roughest 700 action I've ever felt." It was only when the stage was over that I learned it was a Mossberg. I say "trying to shoot it" because it misfired about 25% of the rounds I was supposed to shoot. It had issues for sure, it started the match working but only got half way through.

I don't know if they actually ever made them or not. Have seen them listed many places but that is all. Maybe it got shut down after they announced it. Just would be nice to have a rifle that was easy to load and feeds properly, however it wouldn't be any better if a new one didn't shoot reliably either. Didn't want to spend the money for the rem 700, and heard that rems QC isn't the best these days either. Guess I just try to make due with what we have
