Watching the MASH marathon today and noticed they all were wearing black boots. The black boots were not brought into the Army inventory till 1958. When I went to basic in February of 1960 I was issued brown boots and a bottle of black dye.

Mike, I also caught some of the shows on sundance network, and noticed they dubbed in a laugh track??? . Wonder what that was up with that?
Really detracted from the show, IMO.

They started using laugh tracks because without them there would be no laughter in the room at all.
Now everything is funny. Someone opens a door---laughter.
The dog walks by------laughter.
I'm so glad we killed our tv.
Ha! Now that makes me laugh.......

MASH was mostly filmed at an outdoor location, therefor no audience for natural laughter. Studio filmed comedy shows like "The Big Bang Theory" are recorded in an audience filled studio and still they add fill with a miserable laugh track. I cannot remember if "I Love Lucy" had a laugh track in the original broadcasts, I suspect not. Laugh tracks are east to spot because the laughter quits exactly before the next spoken line.

I suspect that longest natural audience laugh was when Ed Ames threw the tomahawk crotch shot on Carson's show.

Fox Mike is my nickname from way back when I was a crew chief. My real name is Frank. Note my signature line. :D :D
When MASH was shown in Great Britain there was no laugh track added to the tape.

New sitcoms like Modern Family don't have a laugh track. They're much funnier that way.
