One of my favorite pass times is photographing old buildings out in the country, there's a story behind everyone of them if I just knew what it was. Many dreams & many heart breaks took place at these old places.

Most of these settlers were real craftsmen, the fit on these logs, even after many, many years is outstanding.

Dick, wasn't that callshots birthplace ? Surprised there is no monuement there stating so......

Great pictures ! Keep 'em coming !

Those are the kind of pictures I really enjoy seeing.... Thanks :D

Eric, I don't have a clue unless it was maybe to keep the cows from rubbing their butts on the corners, they like to do that....so does Callshot!
Here's a photo of him getting ready to go to the movies! Yes, those are rubber boots.

Dick, Do you know where you go for telling lies? When I get around you I need deep boots to protect me from all the crap that is spread around. Also, notice the work gloves. One of us has to work at least part of the time. Jeff, just because I have lived a sheltered life, doesn't mean that I was born in a barn. You guys better start being nice because I only have one nerve and you both are on it. Steve

Dont let em sass you too much Steve. I think you look GREAT in your new go to meeting boots....

Steve, you misinterpreted my statement.......alot of inspirational people were born in barns, mangers........

Great pics, and as noted, the craftsmanship is superb. Realize too that they did it with hand tools! Look at the logs again & see if you could do that!

I thought Steve was wearing his new saturday go to town & see the girls outfit!

Guys, he ain't kidding, he's got a date with a 24 year old hottie on Saturday, I'll have to put up with his stories all day sunday on the way to New Mexico, why me!
I seen him at the pharmacy window, I have no idea what kind of pills he was buying.......... he's a sly old rooster.

Dick, wondering what the barb wire was for?
I like the barn.
Eric

I guess it was there to ease daubing mortar on the corner. I've seen barbwire placed horizonatally between the logs to do the same.

blue asprin,, that just caused a spitting, coughing fit here!

Be careful in town Steve,,, those boots & gloves can be a chic magnet!

Sheeit Tyrone. I might be heartbroken if you choked to death on a chicken bone or some such....

Not a bad choking fit 2 dogs, just a bit of spittle on the keyboard! The image of callshot & blue asprin, a trip to town followed by a road trip with sixshot,,,,!

Great stories and great photos!
I have a place in northern Wisconsin that is partial log house with additions added in the 20's and 50's. The original homesteaded log home dates back to the mid to late 1800's. I love those old buildings!

I alwyas like these photos. I have done a fair amount a "climbing the mountains" around Leadville Colorado chasing elk and have come acroos numerous such places. Finding a pot, fork, old bottles and such. I just stand there in awe of the will folks had back then. A brutal life without question.
