In Ross Seyfried's 1991 article on the 500 Max he noted it was one of the most accurate revolvers he had ever worked with. At the time I just wrote it off to Ross being a world class shooter. I mean, who talks about accuracy with a round like that? Most just hope to become proficient enough to place shots on target.

Well, today I started to see what Ross was talking about. This 8 shot group was at 50 yards off the bench (38.0 of AA1680 with a 525 WFN....likely 1,300 - 1,350 fps):

Ransom rested I think the cartridge with that load would tear ragged little holes. No doubt the gun is more capable than my hold can ring out.

After another 50 rounds of work with it, I couldn't be happier with the results. The only thing that wasn't very happy was my middle knuckle. This is even with it being taped underneath a glove:

Mine look like that also.........but due to way too many years of football!    Nice group by the way, Coogs.

Well, guys, when you have had two carpal tunnel surgeries, as I have, you may not think that way!

Ya, I agree. This level of recoil can't be good long term. I've been shooting really heavy stuff for 20 years now, but it could come back to haunt me. Thousands of rounds of SuperMags, Linebaughs, Maximums, Casulls, JDJs, and stretch-frame BFRs may take their toll. That said, I enjoy shooting big-bores and have no plans of stopping.

You build a sweet piece and can shoot to prove it. I envy your abilities with the heavy guns and really need to shoot my biggest cannons more often to overcome the occasional urge to anticipate. I don't usually have the middle knuckle problem that some of my friends also complain about so must be something about my hold or hand that differs!

Thats some fine shooting Lee. No question that your revolvers stand with the finest produced today and so does your shooting. So what are you going to do with that thing? Stop a locomotive?? Holy Smoke I bet that bad boy bites!

Thanks for the compliments. We really enjoy building and shooting these things. As for the Max, it may get bloodied on a hog or two this year.

And it does bite, but after 200 rounds of full-house 525's I'm actually getting used to it
