Moose versus Hyundai. Yikes....!

A moose will totally screw up a full sized 1960s/1970s automobile. (My brother hit a moose in Maine in a 1967 Dodge Coronet. Brother was fine... Moose didn't make it, Dodge didn't make it.

A Hyundai... Yikes is right.

Kind of an expensive way to go moose hunting. As good as moose meat is, I think I'd really rather get it another way.

Moose aren't that fast... I'd bet he was standing still when he got hit! :lol:

They are so tall that at night all you see is a couple of birch trees standing in the road moments before you hit them. We have a camp at the West Outlet on Moosehead lake and at night you slow down along those roads so you can have half a chance to get slowed down before impact. Being so tall most of the newer cars go right under and then the heavy body crushes the windshield and top right in. A big 3/4 ton pickup is a bit safer but even those would be heavily damaged by a moose.

I remember in the early 60's up in Val D'Or ,Que. seeing pictures of a guy hit an 1800 # moose with a 1960 Chrysler, our Uncle owned a grocery store there in town, and friend with the Chief of police, got to see their "official" pictures and my what a mess, BOTH killed, the man in the car and the moose walked off a bit into the woods??????
cannot even imagine a Hundai ,wow....... :shock:

Moose meat, even 'smoked', to me tasted like an old pair of work boots 8) :roll:

Many auto makers develop very strong A pillars based on what was once called the "moose test." I believe that Volvo first developed it. Looks like they performed very well in this case. A moose is far wider than just the windshield, yet the A pillars are in really good shape.
