Montado w/ Birdshead Gripframe possible?

Would that work? I recently purchased a Cimarron Lightning with a 3.5" barrel, and, initially, I am not too pleased with it. It is very inaccurate and some of the factory ammo I used in it would not work because the primers were dragging. I am going to enjoy this gun come heck or high water, but I may have to tinker with it a bit first.

Can a birdshead gripframe be put on a Montado? I think that would be the ultimate packing gun/CCW as far as SA's go.

I have been getting it all dialed in w/ 10gr Unique under a 255 gr X-treme and there shooters.

Yes 10gr Unique .... there Vaqueros 8) not Montados, the reason for my "kinda".

I didn't buy the guns, my son did, one was my birthday present from him. the other was his birthday present to himself. Consecutive SN#'s. It was a GREAT birthday present, man was I suprised. :shock:

I just bought a SBH hammer and it dropped right in...

I do like the look of the Bisley hammer though... I might have to play with that one day.

Back to the subject... I have heard the birdshead grip frame will work on a montado but it takes quite a bit of fitting. Maybe some one who knows better than me will chime in.

Ohhhh Sir, I said "Kinda" like this. Those guns are Vaqueros, Original, Full Size.....clear as mud, maybe ?

I allways wanted a Montado, but since getting these I'm Very Happy and enjoy shooting the hotter loads thru em.
It's my new bedside sidearm.

I sent a Montado over to Alan Harton with a birdshead grip frame. I traded my Montado grip frame to a guy for the birdshead frame. I'm having other work done, though, and will end up with a twin set of birdshead guns; one in 32 and one in 45 Colt.

Anyway, Alan says it will be about a year before I get them back.

Boge Quinn has a 32 done by Alan and my twins will look something like his, only with the Montado and/or Bisley hammer:

I don't have a Montado. I just like the Montado's features and barrel length. I might just look for an OM birdshead. I want a .357 simply because I do not reload yet, and .45 is just too expensive for me to shoot.

I think the only thing that would be a deal breaker is if the screw holes and trigger hole don't line up. You could do any kind of necessary grinding/filing on the profile to get the metal to fit together.

Maybe I'll give it a shot tonight. I have a BH grip frame and a montado. I'll see if it's even close.

I LOVE the Montado with the birdshead grip. I passed on a .45 Montado ( still kicking butt) but can get a .357.
How much are the birdshead grip frames in SS?
and do they come for old and new sizes of Vaquero or just the old?

I still see a few .32 H&R around at shows and one dealer near me has 2.
