MKII 22/45 identification

Howdy, I purchased a 22/45 and am curious what the actual model no. is. I tried to discern it though Chad's Reference but the models run so closely together.


S/N is 224-85566

It is a "competition target model" as marked. Plastic grips, adjustable rear sight, 3 screw drilled and tapped for a sight base.

I just can't seem to find the matching SN say for a K4B or KP 512??

Just curious so I can mark it as what it actually is. I purchased it for my wife Judy and just want to put a note in the correct MKII case I bought for it.

BTW, Ruger will print a case label for you (on orange paper) if you ask nicely, but it must be new enough to be in their "database". They've done several for me. I also use Power Point and some bar code generators to do my own when Ruger can't provide one.

That gun won't have a "K" prefix to the model number since the K means stainless in Ruger-speak.

That gun came with steel Ruger mount and rings. Has an adjustable target trigger. MIne are headshot-worthy and NFS.

Sam, could you possibly send me pics. of your original Ruger mount and rings? It would make it much easier to find if I had visual clues as to what to look for. This is the first MKII in the family (all others are MKIIIs or standards), so I am not really up on what came with the guns. If you have a pic. of the lock that came with it I would appreciate that as well. I have a manual for the MKII but it does not mention an adjustable trigger?? I am just trying to find what I can about it so any more info. would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've never seen a P678GC or a KP678GC that came with rings. Do you have any pictures? I know they came with the MK678GC and most KMK678GCs.

I bought mine in the 20th century. IN the '98 and '99 catalogs, you'll find: "All Competition Target models come with Ruger Mount and scope rings".
Mine did not have them in the box (both 22/45 Competition Target models), but a 2-minute call to CS found a set in the mailbox in a couple of days, no charge, for each gun.

The target triggers are p/n A01201 on page 39 of the 22/45 manual, as it is linked on Ruger's website at http://www.ruger.com/service/productHistory/PI-22-45.html.
Page 40 shows "Ruger Competition Model Component Parts":
The blued steel scope base is p/n A07000.
Rings supplied were the S100RL, but any equal-height rings will work. :wink:

TFM states: "Only the Mark II Competition model is drilled and tapped at the factory." Well of course the 6 7/8" and 8" flat-sided blued CT guns were all D&Td as-shipped to Davidson's.

Owned many rim-fire handguns, I settled happily with a MKII 22/45.
Stainless,bull barrel version.

Accurate,reliable and fun to shoot.
And WAY EASIER to strap on a hip than my T/C CONTENDER....LOL

Correct. The mount is roll-stamped with "RUGER" no logo, etc.
The ebait ad is incorrect obviously, as the Mk III never offered this mount, only the MkII.

Thanks, yes I knew the ad was wrong. I have a couple of MKIIIs and the mount is definitely different.

My P678GC has a pretty low number (222-00***) and was purchased in '97, IIRC. It was not advertised as coming with bases or rings, only that it was drilled and tapped. Don't know if or when Davidson's began including bases and rings. I will say though, I have gotten some bragging-size groups with this puppy, and scoped/benched it has shot under an inch at 100 yards on more than a few occasions. All I've done is polished the pins and sliding/mating surfaces internally to take the drag out of the trigger. Super-keeper!
