Mk2 trigger retainer spring

I'm trying to re-assemble my buddies mk2. I can't get the trigger pin retainer spring to act right. How is it supposed to be installed? Pics appreciated.

I think the problem is the spring isn't in far enough.

Does the loop of the spring go into the pin or past it?

Its like the spring is just too darn big or something.
