MK-IV 22/45 Grips

I have a MK-IV 22/45 what is the difference between MK-III 22/45 grips and MK-IV 22/45 grips, are they interchangeable?

If you go to the Ruger site and look at the instruction manuals for each pistol it appears that the MK IV has a 'notch' toward the top rear of each grip that the MK III doesn't.

The MK III Safety is a button that slides up and down in the frame, the Mk IV safety is similar to the 1911 safety that is why the grips do not interchange
