Here's what you need:

Drift your original sight out of the dovetail (left to right as you look from the rear of the pistol) and drift this one in right to left.

Dang!

How much is it from Ruger? I bet you can get one from them that is stock on something else for less.

I used a ruger factory adjustable rear a and a Millet front sight on my girlfriends standard 6" mkll.
I was going to attach a link but just discovered that millet no longer makes sights but would bet you can still find them on ebay or on shop shelves.

Just had another thought.
Does anyone know if the standard 4" and 6" mk's use the same sight.
Maybe the sight on the 6" is taller in which case you might be able us it.
The millet was a littile taller than I needed but a file and a little cold blue fixed that

Of course you can get one from Ruger cheaper, but it won't work on a standard because the front sight is too short for a Ruger target rear sight.

So if I understand this correctly, the midway sight will work on a Mk III 4 inch without changing out the front sight BUT if you use a Ruger rear sight you will have troubles with the front sight????? Why doesn't the Ruger sight work on a Ruger????

The ruger fixed rear sight is lower than the ruger adjustable so with a higher rear sight your gun should shoot high.
You can try the Ruger adjustable sight and it might work for you with the factory front sight.
Every one holds the gun and sees the sights a little differently.

That particular Millet rear sight is designed to work with the shorter standard front sight. All target model Marks have different barrels and front sights from the standard models. That's one reason why the standards are cheaper.

I've seen pictures of standards that have been modified to use a regular target rear sight. They look like they have a flag flying on the front of the barrel.

So this sight, if it were available, should be able to be used on a 4 inch stainless Mk III and work properly with the factory front sight, right?

LET ME ADD THIS : I own three STANDARD MKII Ruger pistols, two short and one long, and all three shoot dead on their sights. [ Easy to do if nessessary also, THINK ABOUT IT ...]
THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN FIXED SIGHTS IF THEY ARE FIXED IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

Yup.... it's intended to replace the factory rear sight while retaining the original front sight.
