MK III 22 45 Magazine

I was missing around with a Ruger 22 mag loader today and I had to make a mod for it to work on my 22 45 mags. Here's my question...on the front left of the magazine about 2" down from the top is a small protrusion, sort of like the tooth of a food grater, and I don't know what it does. Well, it does get in the way of the plastic HSK loader. I think the mag latch port is further up, nearer the top. ???

I believe that would be to lock the magazine in place when inserted into the grip.

Are you using the HKS #22-B mag loader?

Ranger1, its the HKS for Mk1 and Mk11. They were out of loaders for the 22 45. The one I have works okay, but had to have a little relief to allow for that protrusion. I need haul the mag and gun out of the safe and look again about the location. Thanks....
