I picked up a near as new MK II, 4" blue bull bbl today and am starting the search for a holster for it. Will this search require a custom maker or will I need to get a 5.5" version for a bull bbl and have it cut down?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

tks, c4

If you come up empty other places, you might try http://www.pistolpackaging.com/ .

I think they should be able to make one in whatever length you like, probably for little or no extra.

Word of warning: they like to use white thread. Thankfully, they'll use brown, black, or whatever to match your holster, IF you ask for it. No extra charge.

Happy shopping!

You should be able to find a bianchi #89 to fit thats what I use. I have a early 22/45 mkll with a 4" bbl.
The holster is marked "Victor" presumably for a High Standard Victor
Mine is an older holster made when Bianchi made them for spesific guns.
Now Bianchi has gone generic to cut cost and marks them 89 22lr. I think they are all made for a bbl and just vary in length. I think I have seen them with two snaps to fit different pistols.

Just checked Bianchi's web site.
Looks like that model has been discontinued.
But there are plenty of used ones around.
One thing I forgot was that on mine I had to move the snap on the strap.
It was a little to long.
Looking back I think I would shorten it from the other end, there is only a riviet holding it.

I suggest looking at the El Paso Saddlery's website. They will make you one that you'll be very happy with. I have bought six or seven from them. Service is great and they make it after you place the order. You'll have one made for your gun and your wife will appreciate the leatherwork.

Thanks folks, I'm looking at the MK III (43/4) holster on the Ruger site and El Paso Saddlery's options. I like the EPS craftsmanship and will probsbly go that route just because the leatherwork looks so darn nice. In the meantime I'll use the one that I have for my 5.5" bull.

Good shooting to all, c4

I would go to the local gunshow and buy a cheap nylon holster. This works well for me.I save my money for the ccw holsters.
There are a couple of hard shell plastic holsters that will hold almost all of the Ruger Mark series. They have an open bottom so as to accomodate different bbl lengths.

Ben Wetzel is a great guy to talk to, makes excellent custom holsters for prices that compare with commercial made holsters. I still have one either he as a younster working in his fathers shop or his father made late 50's for my HS HD Military (but also for Ruger, others). Still makes same model today, same way to fit many different auto's.
