I have a 181 series mini that I enjoy shooting. My problem is the rear aperture is too large, and my groups are pretty spread out. i like the AR 15 rear sights, they work for me. Where can I find a aperture sight/ insert with a smaller orifice? How difficult will it be to replace? I like shooting iron sights and consider it a challenge to hit small targets at 50 yards. Or will I be better off with a small 4x scope?

I don't recall the thread size you'd need but it might be that you could D&T your existing aperture hole for one of these:
http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/sights/sight-accessories/sight-apertures-prod862.aspx
Brownells will be able to supply the correct drill and tap.

Or you can buy one of these:
http://www.tech-sights.com/mini14.htm

Or you could drill your existing aperture-hole to .125 and use the "push-in" apertures which are linked from a drop-down menu shown on the left of this page:
http://www.tech-sights.com/

Or you could save the money, remove your existing aperture, solder-up it's hole, and then re-drill it to any size you like.

Hope this helps.

Skinner sells the apertures for less than Brownells. You can get a set of 5 for $50. http://www.skinnersights.com/apertures_8.html

Hmmm.
I experimented with the old peep sights. Before I found a Ram-Line shrouded peep (blank), seems I dabbed on some flat black enamel (Testor's) paint till the original steel peep was closed over, then poked an aperture using Wife#1's tools - in this case her sewing needles. Once I was satisfied I finger-turned a fine drill bit through to true it up.
An old Dope Bag trick from American Rifleman IIR.

Of course this was in concert with thinning and squaring the front ramp.
