Does the Ruger factory change the size gas bushing from one gun run to the other or what?
Has anyone heard of an .095 factory gas bushing or is mine some freak of nature? It throws brass
16 yds, is that a record. I changed it out with a.045 bushing but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Hardly a week goes by without a thread about Mini-14 gas bushings. I think the .045 bushing is most often what people put in their guns to tame the flying brass. :D

Jimbo, I believe you're right. There have been a lot of gas bushing posts on here. I thought the factory bushings ran somewhere in the .080s range for the Mini 14 and wondered if anyone has ever heard of them in the mid .090s. No wonder this 14s sending the brass out 48 feet. I believe the .045 bushing i've installed will slow it down some, lf not i've still got the .040 & the .035 to try.

I have a 582-series Mini-14 Ranch Rifle which I bought NIB. During it's initial tear-down and inspection, I discovered that the shank of a #39 (.099") drill bit would pass through the orifice of it's factory gas bushing but a #38 (.101") would not.
