Mini 14 Front Sight

I had my Mini 14 worked on by Accuracy Systems, one of the upgrades was a .650 diameter barrel threaded at the muzzle. I had the barrel drilled for a hi viz sight, don't care for it though. Any alternatives such as a sight to slip over and pin or an upper gas block with a sight blade? Anyone used this item: http://www.thearmsroom.com/id9.html

I called Ruger to see if they'd send a new style front sight, they said they have to be fitted at the factory, I'm guessing they won't fit their front sight to another company's barrel.

I was thinking of having an M1 Carbine sight fitted, but the ID of the base is about .580 and there's not enough meat on it to open up to .650 ID.

Any ideas?

I actually like the looks of the gas block fitted front sight. This would allow for shortening of the barrel as shown with the use of a nice flash hider. I have not doen it yet but now that you brought the gas block sight to my attention, I just may have to do it.
